This is Starwest's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Tomato Flakes are dehydrated and diced tomatoes. Tomato powder is made from tomatoes that have been pureed and concentrated. It is drum-dried on roller dryers and milled. Tomatoes are very high in natural vitamin C, Vitamin A, Beta-carotene and lycopene, an anti-oxidant. Tomato flakes and powder can be added to soups, casseroles, baked goods and smoothies to produce interesting and healthful foods. To rehydrate before adding to your recipe, soak 1 cup Tomato flakes in 1 cup boiling water for 30-40 min to produce 1 1/2 cup Tomato. When adding to soups or other recipes with plenty of liquid, you can add the Tomato directly into the food. On reconstitution, tomato powder has a rich red colour typical of ripe whole tomatoes and a natural tomato flavor.
